Where can I find the license number?

The license number is printed on every official DTI quality seal – to the right of the QR code. Every license number is a unique 9-digit combination and is clearly assigned to the tested product and the test period.

How do I know if a license number is valid?

A valid license can be recognized by a registered license number that can be found in our license search – together with the product name, license period and further details of the test. In addition, you can verify validity at any time by scanning the QR code on the seal.

If a license number cannot be found or the seal does not appear in our database, it may be an expired or unlawfully used license. In this case, please send us a photo of the seal and where you found it to rechtsabteilung@deutsches-testinstitut.de – we will check the matter immediately.

How long is a license valid?

Our product seals and the associated license are generally valid for 12 months from the test date. If the license is not cancelled in due time, it is automatically extended by a further 12 months, but for a maximum total term of 36 months.

After these three years have expired, a new product test is required to renew the license and continue using the seal.

How can I obtain a license?

The license is already an integral part of every product test and is booked and paid for directly with the test.

‍If the test result is positive: The license starts automatically with the publication of the test report. Your product receives a unique 9-digit license number that is assigned to the test period.

‍If the test result is negative: The license fee already paid will be fully refunded to you for 1 year.
